Hope is... state-of-the-art
radiotherapy.
First Dayton Cancer Care is the region’s only
freestanding facility using today’s most precise
external treatment. With intensity-modulated radiation
therapy (IMRT), image data from a CT (or “CAT”)
scan is used to accurately plot treatment in three dimensions.
IMRT then varies the shape and intensity of the radiation
beam, delivering the highest dose directly to the cancer
while surrounding tissues get the least. With IMRT,
planning this sophisticated treatment can be done in
minutes during your first visit, and treatment is delivered
in minutes as an outpatient procedure.
Hope is... today’s most advanced
brachytherapy.
Brachytherapy
is radiation therapy applied directly to cancerous tissue.
We are Dayton’s first and only facility to use
CT-guided “high dose rate” (HDR) brachytherapy
— the most precise form available — and
have the only specially designed suite dedicated to
it. Using CT imagery, computers precisely apply high
doses directly to the cancer. Treatments take only 15
minutes... with fewer side effects and risks.
Hope is... tomorrow’s leading-edge
methods.
At First Dayton Cancer Care, we’re always looking
to provide the next-generation equipment and methods.
Because it allows us to do today what others might push
back for weeks... and to do in minutes what otherwise
may take hours! |
